When you are celebrating Taco Tuesday: The Taco Shop

Did someone say tacos? The taco shop is situated a few blocks west of campus. It serves authentic Mexican tacos with delicious margaritas and ice cold Coronas.

What to order: the fish taco. These have a crunchy batter and come with chipotle slaw. If you cannot decide, order the chef’s platter so you get to try everything.

Caskey Eats Review

"I give my gold star of this meal to the grilled corn. I actually didn't order it at first and after the waiter left to put my order in, I realized I was in the mood for it. I am so glad I did, because this side was the highlight of the meal. To start with, it's a great value at $2.50 for a whole ear of corn and they don't skimp at all. It's prepared pretty traditionally if you've gotten Mexican grilled corn before. It was charred just a little on the grill (I could have gone for more charring, but it's a minor complaint) and covered in seasoned mayo dressing and then rolled generously in spiced cotija cheese. They didn't skimp on the cheese and it was creamy and decadent."

The Latin Kitchen

"Tucked away in New York City’s West Village neighborhood, The Taco Shop, a new bar and restaurant, is making waves, but more importantly, it’s making authentic Mexican street food.  Since opening in 2012, Jimmy, Natalie and Alex Sanz, along with chef Dudley Nieto, have worked to sling out genuine Mexican fare. In an interview with NBC Latino, Nieto explained that he wants to expose American foodies to tacos that are even better than their Mexican street cart counterparts."

"The basement space is small but cozy, and the simple chalkboard wall menu makes for easy ordering after a few killer margaritas. I mean, there’s only two categories: 'Tacos,' and 'Not Tacos.'"

Metro's Shortlist - Taco Shop's Mango Margaritas

Margaritas are a staple drink to combine with Mexican food. However, Taco Shop’s mango flavored margarita takes things a step further by mixing Herradura tequila, agave nectar, fresh-squeezed lime juice and mango infusion with a fine pastry extraction. The drink is topped off with a classic salt rim; a perfect addition to one of the Taco Shop’s nine different types of tacos. Can’t decide which one floats your boat? Try three different tacos plus a mango margarita or beer for $12, Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m.
